Qld: Don't call us boffins, scientists plead

TOWNSVILLE, Qld, Jan 20 AAP - Scientists no longer want to be called boffins becausethe name conjures an image of weird men in lab coats, a science coalition said today.
Federation of Australian Scientific and Technological Societies (FASTS) president ChrisFell said 'boffin' also suggested scientists were not part of the real world.
But that could not be further from the truth, as the real world was all about scienceand technology, Professor Fell said.
