NSW: Archbishop of Sydney says no worries to Aussie bible
One of Australia's most senior Anglican leaders has admitted to being sceptical aboutthe idea of an Aussie bible - until he actually read it.
The Archbishop of Sydney, PETER JENSEN, says he was hesitant before picking up theso-called Aussie Bible.
The book, by Author KEL RICHARDS, retells the story of Jesus' life from the New Testamentusing the Aussie idiom.
Dr JENSEN, who was at the launch of the book in Sydney, says the book's illustrationsalso shocked him initially by portraying Jesus as an Australian.
Mr RICHARDS has described the book as a story of the bible being told by the kind ofbloke who stands around a barbecue in Bondi with his friends.
Bible Society CEO DANIEL WILLIS says the publication is important for the church'smessage, as the ability of people to read and understand the Bible has dropped significantly.
