Fed: IR Commission commissioner promoted to deputy president

The commissioner of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission PATRICIA LEARY has
been promoted to deputy president.

Workplace Relations Minister PETER REITH says her promotion coincided with her appointment
as the president of the Tasmanian Industrial Commission.

Mr REITH says it demonstrates in a practical way the commitment of both governments
to the ongoing harmonisation of workplace agreements.

Ms LEARY, who has been an AIRC commissioner since 1984, will take up both appointments
on January 1, 2001.
