FED; Labor happy to talk about tax business reforms Beazley
Opposition Leader KIM BEAZLEY has confirmed Labor would be happy to discuss with the
government business tax reforms in the Ralph Report before it goes to the Senate.
Mr BEAZLEY, speaking in the western Sydney suburb of Parramatta, has attacked the new GST
system for slugging Australians twice but says business tax reform remains vital.
Mr BEAZLEY says the Australian electorate perceives that business is exploiting tax
loopholes, adding to the importance of business tax reform.
The business tax reforms are expected to pass through federal parliament before May next
year, in which case there would be no need to delay the July 1, 2000 implementation date.
Federal Cabinet is due to consider the Ralph Review, which has not been made public, in
Hobart today.
